K16 – Summer

How do live lessons work?

Live lessons are interactive slides and course outlines that are used to teach Treeway Live Classes. Click on the arrows to navigate backward and forwards through the slides.

How Do I Use the Lesson Plans?

Read this lesson plan before class to familiarize yourself with the ideas and concepts you’ll be teaching the students. You may print this page out if you need to use it as a reference point during live classes.

This lesson is a guide, but feel free to expand on the content or decrease/increase what you teach depending on the learning levels of the students in your class or the amount of time you have to cover the material.

Can I show videos in live classes?

Yes, feel free to include additional material to supplement the class lesson material. Videos, Physical Objects, Games, Activities, etc. are okay to share in live classes.

Videos should have no advertisements or logos and should be viewed by you before showing them to the students to ensure no offensive or questionable content is included.

The video should make up only a small portion of the live class.

How do bookmarks work?

Bookmarks help you keep track of lessons you’re going to teach in future live classes. The bookmarks you see are for all your bookmarked lessons across all grades.

You can bookmark a lesson by visiting the lesson you want to bookmark and clicking the “bookmark” button in the bookmark section.

You can remove a single bookmark by visiting a lesson you’ve bookmarked and clicking the “bookmark” button again to unbookmark it.

You can clear all of your bookmarks by clicking the “clear all bookmarks” button. Be careful, this will erase all of your bookmarks.

Log in to save bookmarks.

In-Class Video

Please show the video to students in full-screen mode. The text in this video must be read to students by the instructor.

Main Teaching Points

Teach the about the season:

  • Jehovah made the seasons and each season has something we can enjoy. Each season is distinct from the other seasons.
  • The seasons follow a cycle. A cycle is a pattern that repeats in the same order over and over again.
  • Summer is the warmest season of the year. In the summer Earth tilts towards the sun. Summer is the season when we get the most daylight.
  • Summer begins in the month of June and includes the months of July and August.
  • In the summer, you can tell how warm it is by the way people are dressed.
  • Warm summer air can bring rain, lightning and thunderstorms.
  • With so much rain and sunlight, plants grow much faster in the summer.
  • In the summer, the sun rises early in the morning and goes down late at night.

Teach About Earth’s Orbiting the sun:

  • The earth goes in a circle around the sun. When the earth circles the sun, we call this an orbit. So we would say the earth ORBITS the sun.
  • Every time the earth orbits, or goes in a circle around the sun, it takes one full year. We get our seasons from the earth moving around the sun.
  • Jehovah created the Earth so that it tilts to one side. Different parts of the earth are closer to the sun as the Earth orbits around it. When the earth is orbiting closer to the sun, it is warmer! And that’s why we have hot sticky summers.
