Activity 1 – Reading Chapter 19 Part 1: Pages 144-148 (20 minutes):

Open the story in the Bookclub bookcase and have students take turns reading. Assign character roles if appropriate.

Activity 2 – Discussion (10 minutes):

Ask students the following questions:

  • “What does Charlotte’s creation of the egg sac reveal about her character and priorities?”
  • “Charlotte describes the egg sac she has created. How does the sac protect the eggs inside?”
  • “How does Wilbur react to the news about Charlotte’s eggs? What emotions does he express?”
  • “How does Templeton react to the news about Charlotte’s eggs?”

Activity 3 – Watch and Discuss: Spider Egg Sac Videos (Optional):

If you have enough time, watch and discuss the Spider eggs sac videos.
